Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

Happy Tuesday! Since my last post, I’ve gone and twisted my bad knee again. Resting the knee meant that I had plenty of time to search through my quote book for this weeks topic. This was such a hard topic, not because I couldn’t find anything, but because there were too many to choose from. The quotes I’ve chosen today are ones that provoked a reaction from me. Whether it be the emotion of the moment, or the way I could relate to it. Some also make great life mantras, while others are simply just an epic quote. Here are 10 of my favourite book quotes.

1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

“I wanted to tell the book thief many things, about beauty and brutality. But what could I tell her about those things that she didn’t already know? I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race-that rarely do I ever simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant.”

2. Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

“Patience and Silence had one beautiful daughter. And her name was Vengeance.”

3. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

“These people have history and I crave history. I crave someone knowing me so well that they can tell what I’m thinking. Jonah Griggs takes my hand under the table and links my fingers with his and I know that I would sacrifice almost anything just to keep this state of mind, for the rest of the week at least.”

4. The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon

“For the word is quick and powerful
Sharper than any two-edged sword
Piercing even to the dividing asunder
Of soul and spirit
Of joints and marrow
It is a discerner of the thoughts
And intents of the heart”

5. All Played Out by Cora Carmack

“Don’t worry about whether you might be wrong someday. Worry about whether you’re right now. Tomorrow can wait.”

6. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

“The books we love, they love us back. And just as we mark our places in the pages, those pages leave their marks on us. I can see it in you, sure as I see it in me. You’re a daughter of the words. A girl with a story to tell.”

7. I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

“He tasted like hope and healing. He tasted like the future.”

8. A Conjuring of Light by V. E. Schwab

“Anoshe brought solace. And hope. And the strength to let go.”

9. Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry

“This is heartbreaking and consuming and addictive. It’s terrifying and peaceful, crazy and serene. It’s a million things in one brief moment and it’s something I don’t understand and never want to live without.”

10. The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

“Happiness depends on being free, and freedom depends on being courageous.”

That is just a small sampling of my favourite book quotes?
What are some of your favourite quotes?
