This reader still needs to get her hands on the first book set in this world, but everything about this novella sounds utterly captivating and magical. It’s one of those tales that is guaranteed to floor you with its intricacy and emotion.

Based on the Portuguese version of the legend of The Miracle of Roses, A Curs of Roses is a fantasy treat. A woman cursed with the magic of turning food to flowers. With a nation on the brink of starvation and the possibility to control this curse, a simple kiss could be the cure for the nation, but the destruction of Yzabel’s world.

Ten Rules for Faking It by Sophie Sullivan (29th)

This book sounds like the perfect story to ring in the new year with. As someone that basically lives by the fake it till you make it philosophy, and Everly Dean, sounds like the kind of character you’d instantly root for. Factor in the radio producing setting and a possible workplace romance, you’ve got yourself a treat.

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal (1st)

A fantasy with a Prince of Death and the hunter, both with secrets to closely guard and a mission that could have catastrophic results on all sides. With an ancient evil looming in the background, it’ll be interesting to see how Zafira and Nasir navigate the tasks ahead of them.

The Arctic Fury by Greer Macallister (1st)

This book sounds as brutal as it gets as 12 women are sent on a mission to the wild Arctic to search for the lost Franklin expedition. However, when not all the women return, you get a trial and mystery that will surely highlight the strength of these women and test their resolve. This reader can’t help but wonder what happened on that ice.
