Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.
Today marks the first official day of Autumn, the season of falling leaves, pumpkin spiced lattes, and the comfort of boots. Of course, no season is complete without books, and this year is notorious for completely ignoring her set tbr list, but tentatively hopes to have read at least one of these books before the winter season hits us.

1. Jade War by Fonda Lee: If you have not yet heard of this urban fantasy epic, I suggest you get it on your radar. The first instalment of the Green Bone Saga, Jade City, was a thrilling and immersive introduction to the island of Kekon. Between its world-building, its sensory enhancing use of Jade, and the cast of flawed yet endearing characters, this series is one that will blow your mind and crush your heart. Sign me up for this sequel.
2. The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang: This is a book I’ve been planning to read for a while now, but I know that it’s an intense read, one that does not shy away from the brutality of history, but I’m 99.9% certain it will be worth every tear I shed.
3. The Bride Test by Helen Hoang: I adored The Kiss Quotient and sometimes those cosy autumnal days require a sweet romance to put you in a good mood. This gem has been sitting on my kindle the minute I finished TKQ, and it’s high time I got it off the unread pile.
4. Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin: Technically this book has been carried over from my spring/summer TBR, but I feel like this book has the right kind of atmosphere that makes it a perfect autumnal read. You have witchcraft, magic, and enemies to lovers romance that’s bound to sizzle. Sign me up!
5. Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik: Another book gathering dust on my shelf, but one that’s bound to be spellbinding and addictive. Who doesn’t love a loose mythological retelling, one that’s full of captivating imagery and stunning prose?
I cannot recommend Spinning Silver enough! I hope you enjoy it. Great list! 🙂

I have read three of these and liked one of them. Won’t tell you which one. Though one of those wasn’t really a dislike more of a subjective not interested. One was… a let down. 😀

Now that’s just teasing!! I feel like Spinning Silver could be divisive in terms of pacing, but I’m gonna get my Sherlock hat on and get to the bottom of this mystery haha.

I’ve been seeing Jade War a lot on my timeline so I put it on hold at the library. I’m excited to read it.
I’m also really excited to see The Bride Test on your TBR. I really enjoyed Serpent & Dove but the reviews for book 2 have not been so favorable so I’m still debating whether I want to pick it up.
I hope you enjoy all these books, Lois!

I am so excited to see what you think of Jade War. As a fantasy novel, it can easily be one of the best.
The Bride Test sounds adorable, especially if I can get a Michael cameo haha.
I’ve read some of the mixed reviews for the Serpent & Dove sequel and it makes me a little bit nervous to read it.

You know the #1 book on my autumn tbr list and that’s The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, I have been waiting for that book way too long not to read it as soon as it comes in. And there are some books on here I definitely want to read myself like the poppy war, I just found out it’s a retelling of avatar: the last airbender, which I still need for you to watch immediately.
