Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d Follow on Social Media

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

Social media is an instant connection to the rest of the world. Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine a world without it. So, how would our favourite characters interact in a world of filters, hashtags, and instant communication? Here are the fictional characters I’d follow on social media.

1. Kaz Brekker, Six of Crows: Kaz might not have the most active online presence, but I can guarantee that when he does he’d be as savage and brutal as he is in real life. He’s the kind of guy that would take down a troll with a single strike. He’d also use social media as a means of getting intel on rivals, and using it to his own advantage.

2. Kestrel, The Winner’s Trilogy: I could see Kestrel only using her platform to raise awareness of a worthy cause and use her brilliant intellect to take down the haters.

3. Elian, To Kill a Kingdom: He oozes sass and banter. His royal family would want him to tone down his personality and keep things formal, but that wouldn’t stop him from sharing tales of his seafaring adventures and banter among comrades.

4. Rhy, A Darker Shade of Magic: Yet another princeling that would revel in their online presence. I can imagine his feed being dominated by sneaky little snapshots taken of Kell, Lila, and the crew. Naturally, this would be before his ascention to the throne, but he’d still use his online platform as a means of communicating with his subject.

5. Gansey, The Raven Cycle: Who wouldn’t want to follow his adventures? Tracking down ley lines, informative posts on Glyndwr, and various shenanigans from the Raven Boys and Blue. Sign me up.

6. Zuzana, Daughter of Smoke and Bone: An artisitc soul with an eccentric twist. She has the best quips and captions and would spotlight the hidden gems of Prague. Plus, her experiences among gods and monsters would surely make some entertaining material.

7. Amy, Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour: Social media can easily be like a scrapbook of memories, and that’s exactly how Amy would treat her channels. Fuelled by her travels with Roger, Amy would take us on an interactive adventure and fuel ones wanderlust.

8. Skylar, I’ll Meet You There: Skylar would utilise social media as a means of promoting her art, and who wouldn’t want to support this talented and wonderful human being?

9. Lazlo, Strange the Dreamer: A fellow bibliophile and a dreamer, Lazlo’s social media presence would be a match made in heaven with any book nerd. From his time in the library, to his discoveries in Weep, his wonderful imagination, and his compassion, Lazlo would be a blessing on anyone’s timeline.

10. Ella, Gemina (Illuminae Files): I feel like Ella would more likely hack into someone elses feed and cause chaos. Hanna and Nik would be obvious targets, but her presence online would be snarky entertainment for the rest of the world.

Which characters would you follow on social media?

  1. Gansey! Not my fave Raven Boy, but it’s who I picked to follow too. I figure his Instagram would be filled with such gorgeous photos of all his adventures.
