Top Ten Tuesday: Memorable Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

Hello everyone. Apologies if I’ve been MIA recently, life has been nonstop. I hope you’re all enjoying some glorious sunshine. This week’s topic is all about book quotes that struck a chord with you. These quotes can be thought-provoking, relatable, or simply beautiful and striking. These are my top 10 memorable quotes.

1. The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

“You see, some people are born with a piece of night inside, and that hollow place can never be filled – not with all the good food or sunshine in the world. That emptiness cannot be banished, and so some days we wake with the feeling of the wind blowing through, and we must simply endure it as the boy did.”

2. The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon

“For the word is quick and powerful
Sharper than any two-edged sword
Piercing even to the dividing asunder
Of soul and spirit
Of joints and marrow
It is a discerner of the thoughts
And intents of the heart”

3. Vicious by V. E. Schwab

“Plenty of humans were monstrous, and plenty of monsters knew how to play at being human.”

4. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

“It’s funny how you can forget everything except people loving you. Maybe that’s why humans find it so hard getting over love affairs. It’s not the pain they’re getting over, it’s the love.”

5. Blood for Blood by Ryan Graudin

“Monsters cut children open and called it progress. Monsters murder entire groups of people without blinking but get upset when they have to wash human ash from their garden strawberries. Monsters are the ones who watch other people do these things and do nothing to stop it.”

6. Half a King by Joe Abercrombie

“The fool strikes. The wise man smiles, and watches, and learns. Then strikes.”

7. The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

“It was because they were two parts of a whole. He did not belong to her. And she did not belong to him. It was never about belonging to someone. It was about belonging together.”

8. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

“You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone’s soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift.”

9. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

“I am haunted by humans.”

10. I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

“And maybe some people are like collages – no matter how broken or useless we felt, we were an essential part of the whole. We mattered.”
