Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.
As you all know the reading slump hit me hard in 2018. Now there were plenty of books that I had planned on reading but never got round to. Some of them were new releases, others on the backlist. However, the books I’ve selected today are all books that I own and have yet to read. I have a staggering number of books on my shelf that go unread at the time and my mission for the year is to read as many of them as I can. Of course I’ll be eagerly anticipating the new releases, many of which I may have accidentally pre-ordered, but beyond the small selection of must reads I have, I don’t plan on buying more books until I’ve finished the collection I have. Beartown is at the very top of my list so hopefully I can get the ball rolling and sort out my pile of unread books.
Which books did you plan to read in 2018 but didn’t?
I need to get to Strange the Dreamer and Words in Deep Blue!! I’ve heard such good things.

They sound amazing, but I think they’re also books I have to be in the mood for.

I’ve been meaning to read Simon vs. The Homo Sapien Agenda for ages. Still hasn’t happened yet for me either.
This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

I feel like I have too much expectation for Renee Ahdieh’s book since I loved the Wrath and the Dawn. Hopefully this one is just as good.

I loved Children of Blood and Bone, I hope you enjoy it too!

Simon vs is awesome; I hope you enjoy it! Although I didn’t like Flame in the Mist as much as most people, I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts. It was a beautiful book, just not one for me.

I feel like I have high expectations for Renee Ahdieh’s books after reading the Wrath and the Dawn and I think the mixed reviews I’ve read made me nervous.

It started out slow for me, but once I got through all the introductions it became addictive. I loved how it all wrapped up.

Off this list I’ve read Simon Vs., Beartown, Flame in the Mist, Strange the Dreamer, Children of Blood and Bone, and The Cruel Prince.
Out of those, I HIGHLY recommend Strange the Dreamer, Beartown, and Children of Blood and Bone.
Simon vs. was super cute fluffy read. It didn’t knock my socks of though.
Flame in the Mist was good despite some shortcomings, but the next book was super disappointing for me. Hope you have a better go with this series.

I’m glad you enjoyed most of the books. It’s made me more excited to read them.
I’ve read mixed reviews of Flame in the Mist, which is probably why I’ve still not read it yet, but I’ll give it a shot and if it’s not for me then I’ll just be on to the next group.

I also had Strange the Dreamer and Cruel Prince on my list, so glad I’m not alone on the former. But looking at your list also reminded me that I own Nevernight and still need to read it. *sigh* Story of my life. lol Simon is the perfect read when you need a giggle or pick-me-up. (The movie was a pretty solid adaptation too.)
If you’re interested, here’s my list: TTT. 😀

Nevernight was so good. It was so dark and bloody and I don’t know why I didn’t read Godsgrave but I will get to it eventually haha.

Same. I was excited to read all of them, but I never got round to it for some reason. I’m just going to blame hype and mood reading haha.

Strange The Dreamer is one of those titles that I need to get to as well! I just finished The Cruel Prince a few weeks ago but it was on my TBR list that carried over from last year. Anyways, I hope you enjoy all of these titles when you get the chance to read them!
