Top Ten Tuesday: Books that have been on my TBR Longest

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the Broke and Bookish and hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

Thank you, Goodreads for helping me narrow down the books for this weeks topic. In all honesty, I need to organise this list and be ruthless in my cull. There are so many books that are sitting on my tbr list that I’ve all but forgotten were on it to start with. Here are the books that have been on my tbr list the longest.

1. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell: This one made it to the list not long after I read Fangirl. I even went as far as to go out and buy a copy for myself. However, this book is still sitting on my bookshelf, unread, and I can’t see it being read anytime soon if I’m honest.

2. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken: I first heard of this series about 5 years ago and was intrigued by the concept of it. Over the years, this series has simply just got lost in the shuffle of all the other books I wanted to read.

3. Legend Series by Marie Lu: Honestly, I put off reading this series because I’d heard mixed views about the ending of the series. On top of that, my interest in dystopian novels has significantly waned so, for now, this series will be staying on the tbr shelf.

4. Shadows by Paula Weston: This is a series I definitely plan on reading this year. I’ve heard a lot of great things about Paula Weston’s writing and I’ve been meaning to delve back into the angel folklore.

5. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs: The main reason this book was on my tbr list was down to the hype. Everyone kept telling me it was amazing, and I don’t doubt it, is but I’ve just never been in the mood to actually read it.

6. Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen: Sarah Dessen is basically contemporary young adult royalty. Everyone I know has read at least one of her books. Why I’ve not read one myself, I don’t know, but Lock and Key sound like one I’d enjoy.

7. Immortal Beloved by Cate Tiernan: From my understanding of the synopsis this book is basically about supernatural beings in rehab. Obviously, there’s more to the story than that, but based on first impressions I thought the rehab for immortals concept was a new twist.

8. Lovely, Dark, and Deep by Amy McNamara: I actually forgot this was on my tbr, but it’s one book that I’m still interested in reading. I just get the feeling that this book might be a poignant tale of healing.

9. Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen: I don’t remember much about what this book is about, but it has a nice cover working in its favour.

10. A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin: In my defence, I’d like to point out that I have tried to read this book, but have only ever been able to make it about halfway through. I like a multiple POV book, but when you have such a vast cast of characters and a change in every chapter, the book dragged and was just too dense for my liking.

  4. Attachments was a really good book, I hope you will want to read it at some point 🙂 I have read Legend and enjoyed it, same for Miss Peregrine, but both were way too hyped for me, so… I found them enjoyable but nothing exceptional 🙂

    I read Attachments a while back. Though I don’t remember the specifics, I do recall that it was a book that was easy to get into and difficult to put down! If you like Rainbow Rowell’s other books, then hopefully you will like this one as well 🙂
    Legend was a book that I read recently. It is an action-filled book that keeps you guessing, though I thought there was a hint of instalove there which I wasn’t as fond of.

    1. I liked Fangirl, but not so much Eleanor & Park. I’m sure I’ll give the book a shot at some point haha.
      I’m told the Legend series is a good fast-paced read, but I just don’t seem to be drawn to the series any more. Hopefully, I’ll read a Marie Lu book soon though.

  9. The Game of Thrones series is on my bucket list of series to read at some point. Like you said, I’ve heard they are very dense books, which intimidates me… plus I may just wait for the author to finish the series because I don’t want to wait years and years for the next installment lol
