Waiting on Wednesday: Godsgrave

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spinethat spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting on
Godsgrave (The Nevernight Chronicles #2) by Jay Kristoff

Publication Date: September 5th 2017

Goodreads Summary
Assassin Mia Corvere has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church ministry think she’s far from earned it. Plying her bloody trade in a backwater of the Republic, she’s no closer to ending Consul Scaeva and Cardinal Duomo, or avenging her familia. And after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia begins to suspect the motives of the Red Church itself.

When it’s announced that Scaeva and Duomo will be making a rare public appearance at the conclusion of the grand games in Godsgrave, Mia defies the Church and sells herself to a gladiatorial collegium for a chance to finally end them. Upon the sands of the arena, Mia finds new allies, bitter rivals, and more questions about her strange affinity for the shadows. But as conspiracies unfold within the collegium walls, and the body count rises, Mia will be forced to choose between loyalty and revenge, and uncover a secret that could change the very face of her world.

Words cannot begin to explain how excited I am for this sequel. Nevernight did a fantastic job of establishing this brutal world and left me reeling. I didn’t trust the Red Church in the first book and I am so happy to see that I might be right in doing so. I can’t wait to explore the establishment of the Church more and unravel their true motives.

I might be clinging to a very tiny shred of hope here but I am also praying that the fate of a certain favourite character of mine is not set in stone.

Also, how amazing is that book cover. It’s absolutely hauntingly beautiful!

What’s your most anticipated book?

  1. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK! I pretty much devoured Nevernight, so I cannot wait to see how Jay Kristoff decides to continue this series. And that cover is amazing! Why do we have to wait until September?!

    1. I’m so excited but also insanely terrified of this book cause it’s going to be so brutal and I have no idea what to expect. I want to believe that Tric isn’t gone but I don’t know. The cover is so haunting and badass.
