Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.
So many books, so little time. 2016 treated us to plenty of exciting new books but finding the time to actually read them all was a struggle. I was hoping to tackle every single book on this list but I failed. However, I do plan on reading these books and I hope to do so this year.
1. Morning Star by Pierce Brown: One of my most anticipated books of 2016 and I failed to read it. Shame on me. The book was incredibly daunting simply because I couldn’t predict a damn thing about it. I will complete this series asap.
2. The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski: One of my goal for 2016 was to read the Winner’s Trilogy. As you can see I failed at this goal. However, I now own a copy of the first book in this series and so I will definitely get to reading it this year
3. Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee: Another most anticipated book that I didn’t read. No reason why other than the fact that I simply couldn’t fins the time to fit it in.
4. Summer Days and Summer Night edited by Stephanie Perkins: I love a good summer romance and I enjoyed the winter anthology so I thought this would make a great read for me in the summer. Alas, when that time came I was so consumed by these sports contemporary romances that I simply forgot all about this book.
5. Nora and Kettle by Lauren Nicolle Taylor: I’ve read nothing but great reviews for this book and I do own a copy, so there’s no justification in not reading it this year.
6. Stars Above by Marissa Meyer: A chance to check in with my favourite crew and I didn’t take it. The shame is real. However, I am rectifying the situation and I’m hoping this collection of short stories will get me out of this slump.
7. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon: I loved Everything, Everything and I was hoping to read this book last month but I was hit by a horrible slump so all reading was put on hold. Sad times.
8. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: I blame New Zealand for this one. See, this book came out just as I returned from the trip and I’d put myself on a book buying ban so I could save some money after all the spending I did out there.
9. The Goal by Elle Kennedy: I was so ready to read this book but when it came to it my mood pulled a 360 and instead I found myself picking up a fantasy book. I’ll get to it this year.
10. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: I was excited to read this book and then the hype got to me. The hype is so immense for this book that it threw me off. So hopefully now that the hypes not as prevalent I can enjoy the book without the high expectations.
The Sun is Also a Star is also on my list. I’m hoping that it is just as cute as Everything, Everything.

I know, right. I can’t believe I neglected it myself haha. It’s definitely going to be read, probably when I need a pick me up after another book trauma. 😛

I started reading Truthwitch and sadly had to put it down just because I was connecting with it. In case this was due in part to the start of my reading slump last year, I think I’ll try picking it up again and see how it goes.
I also had no idea that Elle Kennedy came out with a new book. I’m already behind in the series, soo maybe that’s why? lol
Totally have Stars Above waiting in the Wings (as well as Winter) and I had an ARC of Gemina that I stumbled upon at BookCon. Ooops.
Here’s my TTT in case you’re interested. 🙂

I’ve read a few reviews where people have struggled to get into the book and understand the world. The slump doesn’t help either, I’m in the middle of one right now and it’s horrible.
I’m going to be honest, as much as I love the other guys,Garrett will always be my number 1.
Winter is an epic conclusion to the series. It did a great job at tying everything up. I hope you get the chance to read them soon. 😀

Gemina, The Winner’s Kiss and Outrun the Moon were three of my favorite books of 2016, so I hope you get a chance to read them and enjoy them as much as I did. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! ❤

I also included some of those in my TTT 🙂
Like you, I read the first two books in The Winner’s Trilogy in 2016 but didn’t get to book 3 😦 Hopefully this year we both can read it! so intrigued to see how everythig ends.
I’d like to read Summer Days and Summer Nights and Gemina from your list. I haven’t read either of the previous books, but they’re in my TBR already. Anthologies are always fun and easy to read, and I’ve been hearing nothing but great things about Iluminae.

You’re definitely one step ahead cause I didn’t actually start the Winner’s trilogy haha. I will binge read the series this year though cause I love the concept and I’ve heard so many amazing things about it.
Anthologies are ideal if I fancy a quick and easy read, especially if I’ve been traumatised be a book haha.

Oooooh, I thought you said you did start the series in 2016 but could not finish. My bad, sorry.
I hope you do enjoy them when you get to them 🙂

You will be the first person to turn to when I read Gemina. I think I’ll need a support group for that book haha. I’m just waiting for this reading slump to disappear so I can actually get back to reading.

I’m so excited to read Gemina. I’ve been admiring the artwork in the book but have not made the jump to read it yet but I will, I just need my slump to magically disappear first haha.

Oooh DEFINITELY read Nora & Kettle, SO good! And I really enjoyed Gemina and Outrun the Moon, too! I have to get to quite a few of these myself. Definitely Summer Days, Truthwitch, and TSIIAS! Hope you enjoy them when you get the chance to read them! 😀

It’s on the shelf so I’m hoping once I get over this slump I can devour Nora & Kettle. I’m figured it’d be easier to wait for the next installment in the Witchland series before diving head first so I can binge read them together. 😀
