She’s always played it safe…

College junior Lucy Washington abides by one rule—avoid risk at all costs. She’s cautious in every aspect of her life, from her health, to her mock trial team, to the boring guys she dates. When a brash, gorgeous jock walks into the campus coffee shop and turns his flirt on, Lucy is stunned by the force of attraction. For the first time ever, she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone, but can she really trust the guy who’s determined to sweep her off her feet?

He’s always played around…

Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew “Matty” Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. And it’s his for the taking, if he can convince his quarterback Ace Anderson to give up the starting position. Luckily, Matty already has an edge—the hottie he’s lusting over just happens to be Ace’s childhood best friend. Getting Lucy on his side and in his bed? Hell yeah. Matty is more than confident he can have both, but when he falls hard for Lucy, it’s time for a new game plan: convince the woman of his dreams that she’s not sleeping with the enemy.

Jockblocked was exactly what I expected from the second isntallment in this sports contemporary series. It has banter, a team divided and a sizzling romance. It’s an enjoyable read overall but it didn’t blow me away.

Matty is the typical NA protagonist. He’s hot as hell and has a playboy mentality but also cares deeply for those he loves. With his best friend, Knox’s departure from the college football team, Matty finds himself unwittingly thrust into a leadership role; a position he never wanted to be in. With this new position, he finds himself in the middle of the conflict as he is forced to chose between his team mate or the teams future success. As much as I love the camaraderie between the team, I also find enjoy exploring the dynamic and conflict that can arise within a team that is full of hotheaded, stubborn athletes. The dynamic between the football team fascinates me, especially as we get to see more of the cracks that appear in their team as tension arises between the offensive and defensive players.

To make matters more complicated, Matty finds himself falling in love with Ace’s best friend, Lucy. After seeing the devotion between Knox and Ellie, our protagonists in Sacked, Matty begins to imagine the possibilities of finding a woman he could commit to. With Lucy, he finds that connection and the chemistry between these two sizzles from the get-go. Lucy has heard about Matty’s reputation, so when they first meet she has no interest in becoming another notch in his belt. Lucy is not one to take risks and taking a chance on Matty is a risk she’s not sure worth taking. However, the connection between them is undeniable and as they spend more time together, feelings grow and Lucy opens herself up to the idea of being with him. The dynamic between them was fun and the support they gave each other was endearing.

Overall, Jockblocked was a fun installment to a wonderful series. The chemistry between Lucy and Matty was undeniable and I loved exploring the dynamic between the football team. If you’re looking for a sexy and fun read then this is the book for you.

    1. I definitely agree with you. There’s definitely a pattern with these sports related NA and I do wish that some of them would focus a bit more on the sport and the dynamics withing than the romance. It’s all about the balance haha

  1. I’m glad you’re liking this series, Lois. I adore these books, especially because of the bromances. I’m a little nervous about the next one because the hero … ugh! But I trust the author will do us readers justice and really make him repent! He deserves it!

    1. Please don’t tell me it’s Ace’s story? I don’t know what to make of this information. I was hoping Jack would be the next one. Hmmm I’m all for a redemption arc but he has a lot of making up to do.
