Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew “Matty” Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. Jockblocked was exactly what I expected from the second isntallment in this sports contemporary series. It has banter, a team divided and a sizzling romance. It’s an enjoyable read overall but it didn’t blow me away. 

Matty is the typical NA protagonist. He’s hot as hell and has a playboy mentality but also cares deeply for those he loves. With his best friend, Knox’s departure from the college football team, Matty finds himself unwittingly thrust into a leadership role; a position he never wanted to be in. With this new position, he finds himself in the middle of the conflict as he is forced to chose between his team mate or the teams future success. As much as I love the camaraderie between the team, I also find enjoy exploring the dynamic and conflict that can arise within a team that is full of hotheaded, stubborn athletes. The dynamic between the football team fascinates me, especially as we get to see more of the cracks that appear in their team as tension arises between the offensive and defensive players.

To make matters more complicated, Matty finds himself falling in love with Ace’s best friend, Lucy. After seeing the devotion between Knox and Ellie, our protagonists in Sacked, Matty begins to imagine the possibilities of finding a woman he could commit to. With Lucy, he finds that connection and the chemistry between these two sizzles from the get-go. Lucy has heard about Matty’s reputation, so when they first meet she has no interest in becoming another notch in his belt. Lucy is not one to take risks and taking a chance on Matty is a risk she’s not sure worth taking. However, the connection between them is undeniable and as they spend more time together, feelings grow and Lucy opens herself up to the idea of being with him. The dynamic between them was fun and the support they gave each other was endearing. 

Overall, Jockblocked was a fun installment to a wonderful series. The chemistry between Lucy and Matty was undeniable and I loved exploring the dynamic between the football team. If you’re looking for a sexy and fun read then this is the book for you.
