Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.
How do you expect me to narrow down my all time favourite list? I have a lot of all time favourites and new ones are constantly being added to it. It took me a while but since I decided to split this topic into two halves I can provide you with the 5 contemporary and 5 fantasy books that stick with me.
Contemporary
1. I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios: You will never get me to shut up about the book. Seriously I loved everything about it. The character arcs, the relationships, the exploration of PTSD and poverty. I urge you all to read this book.
2. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta: Another obvious choice. This book is nothing but emotional. It’s one gut-wrenching punch after the other and it has left a permanent mark.
3. The Deal by Elle Kennedy: An angst free NA. Yes you heard right. Sometimes you just need a book that’s funny, sexy but still has a lot of heart. It’s an easy read and one I would re-read over and over again.
4. I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson: Another book that packs a punch. I loved exploring the family dynamics in this book. The characters are flawed and realistic and ones you can’t help but root for.
5. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick: My summer go-to. This book is light, fluffy, romantic and has a lot of heart. I will never not love this book.
Fantasy
1. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta: Am I getting predictable? This is another book I won’t shut up about. The combination of this magical world and the exploration of human nature is an epic success. The characters have so much depth to them. There’s a reason Finnikin is known as my book husband and you have to read the book to find out why.
2. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: A band of outcasts that are morally complex and deadly, the best kind of books. The characters are all kinds of wonderful, the pacing is on point. Who knew that a heist story would turn into an all time favourite.
3. Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson: The master of world building. I loved the complexity of this world and the time Sanderson took to establish the society and it’s characters.
4. Shades of Magic Series by V. E. Schwab: This is an all time favourite because I love the characters. The concept of the four London’s is a hit in itself but it’s the characters that take it to that next level. Kell, Lila, Rhy and now Alucard have all clawed their way into my heart.
5. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor: Why the middle book? Because this book took the series to that next level. The character complexities and the journey they take as individuals and as a pair is heartbreaking and hopeful. The emotion was raw and I loved learning about the Seraphs/Chimera and Karou and Akiva’s role in the tale.
Those are my all time favourite fantasy/contemporary books.
What are your all time favourite books?
I so agree with My Life Next Door, I’ll Meet You There and I’ll Give You the Sun. I have The Deal and Jellicoe Road to get to. I don’t read a lot of fantasy but I do have Six of Crows to listen to. Great list!

When it comes to fantasy books. Six of Crows is definitely one of the best. I can’t wait to finally get my hands on Crooked Kingdom. 😀

I love A Darker Shade of Magic SO much! I’m reading A Gathering of Shadows at the moment, but keep putting it on hold because I don’t want it to end 😂 I really want to read Six of Crows, I’ll Give You the Sun and Jellicoe Road. I really loved A Daughter of Smoke and Bone and need to continue the series!!

I still get chills from a Gathering of Shadows. That ending is just cruel. I’d so recommend Six of Crows, especially now that Crooked Kingdom is out so you can binge read them all in one.

I will never not love My Life Next Door. The smile on my face everytime I think about the Garretts, Sam and Jase is unreal.
