Waiting on Wednesday: Spindle Fire

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer

Publication Date: April 11th 2017

Goodreads Summary
Half-sisters Isabelle and Aurora are polar opposites: Isabelle is the king’s headstrong illegitimate daughter, whose sight was tithed by faeries; Aurora, beautiful and sheltered, was tithed her sense of touch and voice on the same day. Despite their differences, the sisters have always been extremely close.

And then everything changes, with a single drop of Aurora’s blood, a Faerie Queen who is preparing for war, a strange and enchanting dream realm—and a sleep so deep it cannot be broken.

Spindle Fire is a tour de force fantasy set in the dwindling, deliciously corrupt world of the fae, and featuring two truly unforgettable heroines.

You can’t go wrong with a retelling. My first impressions of this book has me hoping that the book has a strong focus on the sisterhood between Isabelle and Aurora. This book promises to be magical and mysterious and hopefully full of political intrigued and crafty maneuvering. Sign me up!

  1. I’m really excited to pick this one up too, Lois! Like you, I hope we get to see a lot of the bond between the sisters. Plus corrupt fae world! That’s bound to make for an entertaining book.

    1. I love a good sibling dynamic and I’m hoping it’s just as magical as the cover looks. I’ve not read a book that explores the fae’s yet so I’m excited to see what this has in store for us. 😀

    1. I’ve never read a faerie book before so it’ll be an interesting experience. I’m so excited to finally be able to read a Sleeping Beauty retelling. 😀

  2. Wow, the cover of this book is honestly so beautiful. The synopsis also sounds fantastic, and I have to wonder how two sisters, one illegitimate, one not, get along together. And if there’s any jealousy in the mix. Sleeping Beauty was my favorite princess as a child, so I can’t wait for this book to come out as well!
Anyways, I’m so glad I came across your blog on Twitter! I’ll be sticking around, and can’t wait to see your future posts 🙂

    1. The cover is an absolute stunner and if the story is as magical as the cover then it’s guaranteed to be a hit. I’ve never read a Sleeping Beauty retelling either so this is definitely a book I need to get my hands on.
Thank you so much for the comment. 😀
