Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’d Buy Instantly

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.

Books. A wonderful treasure set to take you on an adventure…but there’s always a price. Literally. The amount of money I spend on books is ridiculous. I’m trying to limit my spending for the time because every penny I earn goes towards next months holiday So, that means the pretty books I want to read are still waiting for me. 😦 Here are the 10 books I’d instantly buy if I was give an unlimited spending gift card.

top 10 books i'd buy now.png

1. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: I avoided this book when it first came out because the hype intimidated me. However, it’s been a good 6 months or so since its release and the hype’s dwindled a bit so I think now’s a good time to give this book a chance.

2. Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry: I am so, so tempted to buy this book right now. I’ve been wanting to check in with the Thunder Road characters and Razor’s story definitely intrigues me. I. NEED. THIS. BOOK.

3. Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee: My most anticipated historical fiction title of the year and I’ve not read it. *cries* This is another book I am tempted to buy but I must refrain. I love the setting of the book and the fact that it looks at the life of an Asian-American in the 1900’s is definitely a bonus.

4. Stars Above by Marissa Meyer: I know what you’re all thinking. How could I have not read this book yet? Honestly, I forgot and got swept up by all these other new releases. I will jump at any chance to check in with my Rampion Crew and get some insights into life before the Lunar Chronicles so this book will be read by the end of the year. I promise you that.

5. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr: My main reason for needing this book is because I’m sure Jenna is set on having every reader pick it up. I’ve had a good relationship with historical fiction this year so now seems like the perfect time to read it.

6. The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski: Everyone has been telling me to read this series and I really am desperate to do so. I love binge reading series and I am ready to meet Kestrel and Arin and go on this journey with them, no matter how emotional it may be.

7. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: This is the only Matson book I’ve yet to read and I find it unacceptable. So many people have said that this is their favourite Morgan Matson book and I want to know why.

8. The Deal (Off-Campus #1) by Elle Kennedy: I’ve been reading a lot of contemporary sport romances recently and I am hooked to these athletic type. The Off-Campus series has been getting some rave reviews and I’m told it’s very light on the angst. The cover is definitely a great selling point as well. 😉

9. Iron to Iron (Wolf by Wolf #1.5) by Ryan Graudin: I have no reason for not buying this title because it’s a novella. I’ve put it on the list because I always forget about it and I want to have read it before Blood for Blood is released. I want to know what happened between Luka and Adele.

10. Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo: This book isn’t even out yet but my patience is wearing thin. I am so ready to get sucked back into this world. My shippers heart is demanding it. I have questions, I want answers and as long as my favourites still have a pulse by the end of the book I will be one happy reader.

Those are the books I’d immediately buy if given the chance.

  1. I haven’t had the chance to read Stars Above either for the same reasons. Truthwitch, Outrun the Moon, The Winner’s Curse, Second Chance Summer and The Deal are Lois books, in my opinion. I can see you enjoying all of those! I’m so excited about Crooked Kingdom. I’m worried one of them might not make it out safe.

    1. I’m telling you, we need designated reading hours or something cause it’s so hard to keep track of all these books haha.
I definitely trust your word on the other books and I’ve caved and bough The Deal so hopefully I’ll be able to start that on the weekend. 😀
No harm will come to my Six of Crows crew. They are in my protective bubble. Part of me is really worried that Kaz will go down the self-sacrifice root, or he could fake his death so he can leave Ketterdam with Inej and let Kaz Rietveld come back.

  2. We’re definitely getting closer to Crooked Kingdom and yet it still seems like it’s so far away! I need that Wolf by Wolf novella as well. I haven’t really heard much about it but I honestly haven’t looked because even if it (in some alternate universe) got bad reviews I’d still read it! I’ve been really interested in the Thunder Road novels lately and given a gift card I’m pretty sure I would snatch them up without a second thought. Great list 😀

    1. I just remembered I’m not going to be home when my copy of Crooked Kingdom arrives 😥 Why am I making me wait longer. Someone should have warned me before booking the holiday 😛
I’ve been told it’s a great novella to fill in the gaps on what happened between Luka and Adele in the race she entered and won and I think it’s in Luka’s POV as well so that’s a bonus haha.
The Thunder Road novels are so good. The chemistry between our main characters sizzle and it’s interesting to see what the dynamic in these biker communities is really like. It surprised me.

  3. I really want to read Truthwitch and Stars Above! I haven’t read Second Chance Summer either. It’s supposed to be a very sad book, unlike her others. I still want to read it though 😛

    1. I’ve caved and got myself a copy and hopefully I’ll have time to start it this weekend. I’m hearing so many amazing things about the book I figure I have to have it now. The only thing I’m worried about is the possibility of a love triangle. Do I have to worry about one of them?

  4. Yes buy Truthwitch!! I was hesitant at first, since I never read new releases immediately, but I actually loved it! I really really need to get my hands on All the Light We Cannot See. I’ve been eyeing it for over a year now 🙈

    1. I’m so happy you enjoyed Truthwitch and I definitely plan on getting myself a copy soon, especially with the release of Windwitch getting closer.
haha same. Every time I visit a bookshop I get drawn to All the Light We cannot See but I never pick it up because other books distract me. 😛

    1. If I’d have read the book immediately the hype would have raised my expectations to the point I end up being disappointed so I think we made the right move in waiting. 😀

    1. Judging by this wedding we’re treated to in Stars Above I think it’s safe to say they’re doing well. I’m quite proud in the fact that I still have no clue which ships tying the knot. 😛

  5. Ooh, hope you enjoy The Winner’s trilogy! I’d say it’s a pretty great series overall – very politically charged and (to me) a bit too romance-focused, but I loved the world-building and the little setting details. 🙂

I’m also super excited for Blood for Blood. I hope it’s going to be just as amazing as Wolf by Wolf. ❤

    1. You know I’m a sucker for a good romance haha. I do love that there some interesting politial maneuvering and great world building as well. If I could magically make the book appear in my hand right now I would. 😛

I have high hopes for Blood for Blood, maybe too high a hope. I’m trying to predict what might happen but my mind goes blank every time I think about it. I do think either Luka or Felix will be held captive though.

      1. Yeah, the strength of that series is personally more in the political intrigue and the world-building… I didn’t love the male lead, but I hope you do. 😛

AHH I KNOW. I’m just hoping it’ll keep my attention – usually with sequels published so long after I read the first book I tend to lose my interest very quickly. :/

  6. I loved Walk the Edge! It’s even better than the first book, and not only the romance is so hot, the book was also deep and thought provoking!
Winner’s Trilogy!!!! I have yet to read the second and third books myself, but I am already in love with the world and the characters, just with the first book! Can’t wait to read the sequels!

      1. A sizzling romance and added depth. Sign me up. From what I remember in Nowhere but Here, Razor has had a pretty tough life and he intrigued me so I can’t wait to get to know him better. 😀
If I could magically force these books to appear in my hands right now I so would. I’m greedy, I need them all haha.
