Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken

Publication Date: January 3rd 2017

Goodreads Summary
All Etta Spencer wanted was to make her violin debut when she was thrust into a treacherous world where the struggle for power could alter history. After losing the one thing that would have allowed her to protect the Timeline, and the one person worth fighting for, Etta awakens alone in an unknown place and time, exposed to the threat of the two groups who would rather see her dead than succeed. When help arrives, it comes from the last person Etta ever expected—Julian Ironwood, the Grand Master’s heir who has long been presumed dead, and whose dangerous alliance with a man from Etta’s past could put them both at risk.

Meanwhile, Nicholas and Sophia are racing through time in order to locate Etta and the missing astrolabe with Ironwood travelers hot on their trail. They cross paths with a mercenary-for-hire, a cheeky girl named Li Min who quickly develops a flirtation with Sophia. But as the three of them attempt to evade their pursuers, Nicholas soon realizes that one of his companions may have ulterior motives.

As Etta and Nicholas fight to make their way back to one another, from Imperial Russia to the Vatican catacombs, time is rapidly shifting and changing into something unrecognizable… and might just run out on both of them.

Again, I have yet to read Passenger but I hope to have done so by the time Wayfarer comes out. I love the concept of this series and the concept of time travel seems intricate but understandable. I also love the theme of consequence because every time you time travel there is the possibility or chance of altering a timeline which could have a HUGE affect on the present timeline and on our characters. I’m told the romance between Etta and Nicholas is swoonworthy so I am definitely ready to hop aboard this ship.

What’s your most anticipated book?

  1. I still need to read Passenger, too! I love anything to do with time travel, so I’m shocked with myself for not reading it yet. I love this cover SO much! It’s definitely one of my favourites.

    1. Time travel is a hit or miss for me but this one definitely has a lot of potential. Plus those book covers are so stunning. I’d buy the books for the cover alone haha. 😛

  2. The cover is gorgeous. I also need to read Passenger. It’s been sitting on my shelf for a while. I’m hoping to get to it this summer.

  3. Alright, here’s my confession of the day: I had to google the meaning of “wayfarer”. You see? All my life I thought it was just a brand of sunglasses, my all time favourite by the way but anyhow hahah In my defense, English is not my mother tongue, but I freaking use it every day so there’s no excuse. And before you cross me off your list of linguistically respected people, I know now the meaning so I hope that counts as positive points 😀

And now I wonder how many words made brands I am seeing everyday without knowing they are coming from somewhere…

    1. My confession, it actually took me a while to work out the meaning and English is one of my two native languages haha. I am terrible at defining words. It’s like I know what they mean but I just don’t know how to explain it.

To be fair there are probably a lot of brands that have epic origin names. We could definitely research into this topic haha. 😛

      1. Girls, you are so cool 🙂 I guess the way to look at this is that not knowing stuff means learning something new. Ah well, you can tell right now who was the nerd number 1 of her class, right? *says pointing at herself* hahah

We should totally pay more attention to brands now, you are super right. Also, now my wayfarer sun glasses feel cooler ❤
