Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating
This week I am waiting on
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
Publication Date: February 2nd 2016
Goodreads Summary
In 1945, World War II is drawing to a close in East Prussia, and thousands of refugees are on a desperate trek toward freedom, almost all of them with something to hide. Among them are Joana, Emilia, and Florian, whose paths converge en route to the ship that promises salvation, the Wilhelm Gustloff. Forced by circumstance to unite, the three find their strength, courage, and trust in each other tested with each step closer toward safety.
Just when it seems freedom is within their grasp, tragedy strikes. Not country, nor culture, nor status matter as all ten thousand people aboard must fight for the same thing: survival.
There are so many fascinating historic novels coming out this year and honestly this is the one I am waiting for. I’ve read about the history and the tragedy surrounding the Wilhelm Gustloff so I will be stocking up on the tissues for this book. This story is all about survival and to do that you sometimes need to swallow your pride, band together and help each other. I’m excited to see how these characters come together and how these tragic circumstances shape them.
What’s your most anticipated?
This sounds intense, and interestin too. And it has a great cover. 🙂 Good pick!

The cover is amazing and very atmospheric. It seems like shades of blue are the popular choice for a lot of book covers in 2016 haha.

I’ve honestly never read a book by Ruta Sepetys yet! :0 If I can’t read one of her books before STS comes out, this’ll be the first book I read by her 🙂
