Goodreads Summary
A year ago, Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness for their planet, and protect them from destruction. Some say Flynn’s a madman, others whisper about conspiracies. Nobody knows the truth. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were rescued from a terrible shipwreck—now, they live a public life in front of the cameras, and a secret life away from the world’s gaze.

Now, in the center of the universe on the planet of Corinth, all four are about to collide with two new players, who will bring the fight against LaRoux Industries to a head. Gideon Marchant is an eighteen-year-old computer hacker—a whiz kid and an urban warrior. He’ll climb, abseil and worm his way past the best security measures to pull off onsite hacks that others don’t dare touch.

Sofia Quinn has a killer smile, and by the time you’re done noticing it, she’s got you offering up your wallet, your car, and anything else she desires. She holds LaRoux Industries responsible for the mysterious death of her father and is out for revenge at any cost.

When a LaRoux Industries security breach interrupts Gideon and Sofia’s separate attempts to infiltrate their headquarters, they’re forced to work together to escape. Each of them has their own reason for wanting to take down LaRoux Industries, and neither trusts the other. But working together might be the best chance they have to expose the secrets LRI is so desperate to hide.

Another year has come and gone and with it comes the end of a wonderful trilogy. This is such a bittersweet feeling because I have loved every second of this journey and part of me doesn’t want it to ever end. With every instalment of this trilogy we have been building up towards this epic climax and let me tell you, it was intense. The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been and I was awed with the way that all of these plot lines were intertwined and the role our characters play in these moments.

With every companion series, we see a new set of characters lead the narrative. These Broken Stars was Lilac and Tarver’s story, Jubilee and Flynn took the reins in This Shattered World and in Their Fractured Light, our path leads us to Gideon and Sofia. The focus of the first half of this book was solely on these two characters as we get the chance to know them and see them establish their position in the events to come. I really loved the dynamic between these two. In a lot of ways they are opposites but they also find a kindred spirit in one another. Their skill set definitely complement each other. Gideon is a well established hacker. He can work his way around the most complex technology. He is smart and given the right set of tool he can uncover the darkest secrets. Sofia, on the other hand is street smart. She understands people and knows how to manipulate them for her own benefit. Together they are force to be reckoned with. However, both of them have been hit by tragedy which hardens their hearts and they never really know if they can trust one another. Their romance is definitely a slow burn.

Now we can’t forget about our other couples and I was pleasantly surprised at how central Lilac, Tarver, Jubilee and Flynn were to the plot. They come in about halfway through the book and to me this is where the action well and truly reaches new heights. I must say Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux are my OTP and having them be central in the action was a delight. Lilac, in particular was crucial to the unfolding of these events and I love how plot points from the first book made its way back into the story. There was a sense of urgency in this book and I was genuinely worried that not everyone would make it out alive.

Here enters the Whispers. I love that we get intervals between each chapter and in this instalment; we get to see things from the perspective of the Whispers. I love these breaks between the chapters because it is through them that we get some clarity of the events that unfold and how it is that these events ultimately bring all these characters together. I also loved reading their commentary on humanity and seeing them try to understand the human nature. I found these breaks to be chilling and haunting and made Roderick LaRoux’s actions and treatment of these beings all the more horrifying.

I must say to those of you that have not picked up this series yet, you are missing out. There is something for everyone in this series. From the sci-fi elements, to the romance and the survival instinct of the characters; this book has it all. It has been a joy to fall in love with this world and the characters. I am really sad to have to say goodbye to this series but I finished this book with a smile on my face. This series is definitely worth the read.

Side Note: I am praying that we get some sort of epilogue or an additional novella for this series. I just need more Tarver and Lilac in my life.

    1. This is one series that I’ve been recommending to everyone I know haha. I feel like these books don’t get enough attention. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series as much as I do. 😀
