Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish where we get a new topic for a top 10 list.
This weeks topic is to list the book to film adaptations you’re eagerly wanting to watch. My list is a combination of to be released films and films that have already been released but I have yet to watch them.
1. Mockingjay pt. 2. (Suzanne Collins): I loved part 1 and I am so excited to finally see the conclusion to this wonderful franchise. It’ll be a bittersweet moment when I do watch it because it means that we’ve officially come to the end. Tissues will be needed because there are several anticipated moments that I’m not quite ready to see.
2. The 5th Wave (Rick Yancey): I loved the book and while the trailer was kind of underwhelming for me I’m still excited to see the film. I think the casting for the film is great so I’m hoping it delivers.
3. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children (Ransom Riggs): The cast has me so excited for this film. However, I am hoping that I get a chance to read the book before the films comes out.
4. Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda (Becky Albertalli): Again this is another book I’ve heard nothing but great things about and I think this might be a big hit at the box-office.
5. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (Jesse Andrews): I’ve not read the book and I’ve not seen the film but I’ve heard a lot of people say that this is one of those rare films that actually prove to be better than the book. I had every intention to see this film when it was released but unfortunately my local cinema wasn’t showing it. Just my luck.
6. Insurgent (Veronica Roth): Confession, I’m not all that bothered about these films. I watched DIvergent and thought it was an okay adaptation. However, by the time Insurgent came out my excitement about the films waned. Also from what I’ve read I’m told that the film is not the best book adaptation. I’ll get round to watching it eventually but it’s not a priority at the moment.
7. The Book Thief (Markus Zusak): The Book Thief is one of my all time favourite books. It’s such a moving story and I love that the book’s narrated by death. I think because I love the book so much I’m hesitant to watch the film because I’m afraid that the film will not do the book justice. Clearly I’m protective of the book but I am willing to give the film a chance.
8. The Maze Runner (James Dashner): I own the books but I’ve not read them yet. I’m told that the film is actually a pretty good adaptation and I’m a fan of Dylan O’Brien so I might just cheat and watch the film before I read the book.
9. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight (Jennifer E. Smith): I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Judging by the title I thought this would be one cliche after another. Clearly I was wrong haha. I didn’t know they were making it into a film and I’m very excited to see how it turns out.
10. The Help (Kathryn Stocket): This is one book to film adaptation I have refused to watch because I want to read the book before I see it. Unfortunately my mood reading tendencies and existing pile of to be read books have prevented me from picking up the book. I will eventually read it. I promise you that.
Those are the film adaptations that I’m excited to watch? Which film made it to your list?
I confess, I didn’t read the Maze Runner before seeing the movie and actually watching the movie made me want to read it. IDK, something about a pack of boys running around didn’t appeal to me so I didn’t want to bother with my own looming metaphorical TBR pile staring at me, but after reading the first paragraph I was hooked. I liked Dashner’s writing style a lot at the time. IDK, if I’d still be so enamored by it, (I’m a fickle thing) but it was one of those reads I couldn’t put down until I was done with the whole stinking trilogy.
I’ve read so many differing reviews on Earl that I still want to see the film so it’ll be on my TTT too, but I worry that it’s be one of those super slow movies. *shrugs* Guess, I got to wait until it’s on Netflix. 😛
And I agree, lots of tissues will need to be taken into the theater for Mockingjay pt 2.

I might have to move The Maze Runner into a higher position of my must watch list. I think the reason I’ve not gotten round to reading it is because I’ve taken a bit of a break from dystopian books.
From the trailer, Me and Earl looks to be quite good. I’ll definitely be watching it once it’s one netflix.
I don’t think I’m emotionally ready for Mockingjay pt.2. 😛

I plan to watch with my sister in law and husband (we all read the books). I know what you mean, I don’t think any of us are ready for what is going to go down. 😢

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the film. I’m just too protective of the book haha. I’ll definitely check it out though.

‘The Help’ is really good although I didn’t ever finish the book (I started it prior to seeing the movie in theaters and never went back). Also I’m anxious to see ‘Statistical’ as I loved Jennifer’s newest novel and am anxious to read this one too! Hopefully closer to its release date. 🙂
Thanks so much for visiting Dreaming Under the Same Moon today.

I’ve been trying so hard to resist the temptation to watch the film before reading the book but I’m not sure how much longer I can wait haha, I’ve not read Jennifer’s new novel yet but I’m excited to pick it up.
Thank you for visiting. 😀

Mockingjay is the big one (I need to watch the first one ASAP) and I kinda liked the Divergent movies so I’m looking forward to Allegiant (although I do know the ending), and Maze Runner I want to see too. I wasn’t super interested in those books but the trailer got me interested in the movie. 🙂

I think Mockingjay is the one to watch haha. It’ll be interesting to see how they pull off the ending to Allegiant. The trailer to The Maze Runner did look quite good so I’ll definitely have to check it out soon.

I need to catch up on THG and Insurgent. I’ve barely watched any movies lately. I def wouldn’t mind seeing a Simon movie as I loved that book.

I definitely watch more Tv shows than I do films these days. The Hunger Games franchise might be one of my favourite book to film adaptations. I definitely plan on reading the Simon book before the film comes out cause I’ve heard so many great things about it.

I loved The Help!!! I still need to see Insurgent – like you I liked the first enough but I’m not super motivated. I also want to see Me and Earl and the Dying Girl because I wasn’t a huge fan of the book but I think the movie looks good. Can’t wait to see Simon vs and The Statistical Probability as movies. Great list!

The Help is top of my must watch list at the moment. I think from what I hear about Insurgent, the film is good but it’s not a good book to film adaptation. I just think the excitements worn off.
Thanks for visiting. 😀

I have not seen Insurgent either! I saw about 10 minuets of it, and then stopped watching it and read a book. Glad to know that I am not the only one who has not seen the whole movie! Great list!

I just think the Divergent film franchise is underwhelming. The excitements warn off so I’m not really in a rush to watch it 😀

I love The Book Thief movie 😀 And yes, I’ve heard that Miss Peregrine’s becoming a movie! I didn’t really enjoy the book as much as I expected it to, but I’m literally quite curious about the movie next year. Great post ❤
